Our commitments

Our commitments reflect our family history, our craftsmanship, and a deep attachment to our region.
For three generations, at GOYON-CHAZEAU, we have cultivated far more than just knife-making expertise; we uphold a family legacy, a deep connection to our local area, and a steadfast commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Crafting high-quality knives, passing on our skills, prioritizing human relationships, and preserving resources are the convictions that guide us every day.
Today, we aim to embed these values in a responsible approach—one that remains true to our history, aligns with who we are now, and looks toward the future.
LEARNING FROM YESTERDAY, CRAFTING FOR TODAY, THINKING FOR TOMORROW
More responsible manufacturing
For three generations, our story has been shaped by a single conviction: a fine knife is an object to be kept, cared for, and passed on.
Long before corporate social responsibility became a major issue, these values already guided the way we work.
Today, we aim to keep them alive and embed them in a process of continuous improvement.
- Preserving our craftsmanship by passing on artisanal knife-making techniques and supporting the professional growth of our team members.
- Acting for our region by prioritizing short supply chains, local partnerships, and the preservation of the skills that make the Thiers cutlery hub so rich.
- Designing durable products by prioritizing quality materials, repairability, and the responsible use of resources.
- Placing people at the heart of our company by fostering trust, dialogue, safety, and respect for the individuals who bring our workshop to life.
We are convinced that, at our level, an artisanal business has a role to play in building a more responsible economy.
Our ambition is simple: to produce better and to produce for longevity, while remaining true to our history and preparing for the future.
“Our responsibility is not measured by our size, but by the care we put into what we create, the people who craft it, the region that hosts us, and the heritage we pass on.”
A LASTING COMMITMENT
Local Partners
At GOYON-CHAZEAU, we prioritize short supply chains and trusted partnerships built over time.
Of our 44 suppliers, 30 are based in the Thiers cutlery region. This proximity allows us to foster collaboration, minimize transportation, and contribute to the economic vitality of our local area.
When the required resources or expertise are not available locally, we prioritize partners in France—and then in Europe—who share our quality standards and values.
From raw materials to packaging, every sourcing decision reflects our commitment to combining artisanal craftsmanship, responsibility, and a deep attachment to our region.

Preserving and Passing on Our Craftsmanship
At GOYON-CHAZEAU, a family-run artisanal business, training is an integral part of daily life—seen in the techniques passed down in the workshop, the experience shared among colleagues, and the support provided to every new team member. We view this as a responsibility toward both our staff and the heritage of French cutlery making.
Our approach rests on four pillars:
- Passing on expertise: preserving the traditional techniques and craftsmanship of cutlery making.
- Developing skills: keeping pace with technical, digital, and regulatory changes.
- Sharing knowledge: encouraging the exchange of experience and versatility.
- Preparing for the future: welcoming and training new generations by regularly taking on apprentices and interns.
Knowledge transfer by experienced employees is recognized as a genuine form of training. When necessary, we supplement this internal process with external training programs (covering manufacturing techniques, digital tools, management software, communication, and digital marketing).
We are committed to ensuring equal access to training and enabling every employee to maintain or even improve their qualification level. We regularly identify needs, schedule priority initiatives, evaluate completed training, and adapt our training plan to the company’s evolving needs.
Our commitment is a long-term one. It is built day by day—through our choices, our actions, and the relationships we forge with those around us.
True to our heritage, we move forward with a determination to evolve our practices, preserve our artisanal legacy, and pass on far more than just techniques to future generations: a passion for the craft and an appreciation for work well done.
For crafting a knife means contributing to a story that extends far beyond our workshops.
