1975-2025, GOYON-CHAZEAU turns 50

Our story begins in the 1950s with Solange Chazeau and Gabriel Goyon. They work in a small workshop – which is now our offices – for the great houses of high-end French cutlery.
In December 1975, they found GOYON-CHAZEAU together with their son, Denis, and create the brand that bears both their names. The cutlery business expands on the family property with the building of a new workshop which has subsequently been extended twice.
Denis Goyon and his wife, Christine, gradually move away from the initial subcontracting work to develop their own ranges of ‘GOYON-CHAZEAU’ products. These are based on their unique expertise of stainless steel hollow handle welding and the production of fully forged items. This will later earn them the EPV label (Living Heritage Company).
Handmade work, short channels and 100% French production soon become the pillars of our identity.
The third generation takes over in 2017. Magali Goyon, married name Soucille, and her husband Vincent work to promote artisanal expertise in France and overseas. A team of seven people and one apprentice work alongside with them, ensuring the authenticity, exacting standards and passion for knife making are perpetuated, offering cutlery pieces of excellence.
Magali, Vincent, Peggy, Jean-Luc, Valérie, Patrice, Féridun, Charlie and Ludovic are proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Coutellerie GOYON-CHAZEAU with you today.
Fifty years of human adventure in the world of cutlery-making in Thiers, the cradle of French cutlery.
Can you see the ‘T’, for Thiers, taking shape in the centre and flowing like the Durolle River through our ‘Forged heart’?
The forge is our signature and is at the heart of each of our ranges, which is why this ‘Forged heart’ is always present in our logos.
These ranges are represented by three lines, symbolising three types of cutlery: kitchen knives, table knives and cutlery, and pocket knives.
Finally, the ‘Forged heart’ represents our family-run, artisanal cutlery business, which has been forged over time and still puts its heart into its work.

A symbol of tradition in the modern age, this knife has been passed down through the generations of the GOYON-CHAZEAU family and has evolved over time.
This special edition is limited to 400 pieces.
Each piece is numbered and engraved with the 50th anniversary logo. They are delivered in a special anniversary box.
The P’tit Tradi 50th anniversary special edition knives have a ash burl handle made from a tree that was fifty years old when it was felled to make way for an extension to the workshop.
What a beautiful gift from nature for our anniversary!
